In the past year, four Philadelphia police officers have been killed in the line of duty, devastating their families, the Philadelphia police force, and the entire Delaware Valley. Local sponsors and citizens are working together to honor, remember and celebrate the members of the Philadelphia Police Department, who dedicate their lives protecting this City, by organizing Philadelphia Blue Day. The goal of Philadelphia Blue Day is to raise $50,000 for Philadelphia's Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5 Survivor Fund.

Helping is simple. On October 28, just make a purchase at any of the participating sponsors and 10% of that purchase will be donated to the Survivor's Fund. Together we can make a difference, both financially and by simply showing our appreciation through participation.

David and Jennifer Fox, founders of Brave Spirits, started Philadelphia Blue Day in response to the tragedies that have befallen the Philadelphia Police Department. They wanted to create a way for the entire City and surrounding areas to show their support for the men and women in Blue. Brave Spirits is a premium American-made spirits company whose mission is to honor, remember and celebrate the brave men and women who protect our country. For every bottle sold, they give $2 to charities that support our military, police departments and fire departments.

For 40+ years WMMR has supported Philadelphia's finest, in good times and bad. When approached about supporting this event there was no hesitation. WMMR will make getting the word out to their bar and restaurant advertising clients and more importantly, their listeners, a top priority. They ask that all radio stations join in the effort. Apart from raising money for the Survivor's Fund, WMMR fully embraces the idea of creating a day to honor all Philadelphia Police, past and present.
